dc.description.abstract | Bleeding from esophageal varices is a life threatening complication of portal hypertension. Prevention of bleeding in patients at risk for a first bleeding or re-bleeding episode is therefore a major goal. Splenic artery embolization decreases pressure in the portal vein system and reduces the frequency of episodes of variceal vein bleeding. | uk_UA |
