dc.description.abstract Currently, the number of cancers among the population is growing rapidly and their cause is not always known, so scientists have been trying to identify the main triggers in the mechanism of tumor development for decades. Breast cancer is of paramount importance in female oncology and is characterized by a long-term latent course. That is why patients seek medical help in the late stages, which, in turn, reduces the prognosis for successful treatment and requires surgery. According to the World Health Organization, the leading place in the causes of death among all cancers belongs to breast cancer [1]. Therefore, medicine aims to find the causes and ways to prevent cancer. The genetic theory of oncogenesis has been repeatedly suggested, so, in this case, we studied the association of VDR gene polymorphism Bsm I (rs1544410) and breast cancer development. That is why the purpose of the review is to clarify the presence or absence of this correlation, as well as the need for further research in this area. uk_UA
