dc.description.abstract Significant prevalence of pathology, unsatisfactory treatment results and clinically important and severe complications of the disease in children require a brief historical description of acute appendicitis. Regarding the history of acute appendicitis, it is necessary to mention the times of Hippocrates, when the anatomy and morphological structure of the appendicular process have already been described. However, there was no data on appendectomy at that time. Until the XVIII century there were no ideas about the role of the appendix in inflammatory processes of the abdominal cavity, and the first reports of typhlitis and paratyphlitis appeared only in the XIX century.
