dc.description.abstract Long-term simulation of methio- nine hyperhomocysteinaemia in pregnant female rats and hyperhomocysteinaemic diet reduces vitamin D status but does not increase Hcy levels in young off- spring of infantile and early juvenile periods. Bio- chemical changes in blood, jaw bones and the presen- ce of early carious process in the teeth of young rats, in our opinion, are the result of metabolic disorders in utero, caused by hyperhomocysteinaemia and vi- tamin D deficiency in their mothers. Our research results confirm the importance of the correction of hy- perhomocysteinaemia with choline and vitamin D, that prevents the loss of bone mineral density of the jaws and effectively inhibits the carious process in the fissures of the root teeth of young rats. en
